Test Post on LiveWriter

OK, let’s see if I can create a blog posting using this new-to-me program, "Live Writer" from Microsoft.   Professional artist/blogger Jeanne Raffer Beck put me onto this.

This is a test.  This is only a test.  Had this been an actual blog, I’d have spent more time revising the text.

This is is why the Smith cousins always say “High Four” rather than “High Five.”   I don’t know imagewho started it, but it was on the Smith Cousin New York Tour while at Bob and Jeanne’s lake cabin.  Al has four fingers on his left hand and as I recall after a significant amount of beverage was used to wash down boiled clams, someone wanted to high-five Al, but  . . . well, you get the picture.

Soon the whole clan was high fouring and laughing a great deal.

Al is a good sport about it all.

  1. This comment is actually from Bill. He sent it to me in an email.

I remember the missing finger becoming funny because Jeanne was being forced to get us all straight as to who was who and at some point commented "oh yes. He's the one with four fingers "

Besides the fact that was a rather unique way of remembering, none of us could change our hair or eye color or height but we could curl in our ring finger. Thus the "OK, which one is Al?" Picture. ---Bill Brass

  2. Don and Bill and other Smith family Historians, you got most of the story correct. Twas me -- in the midst of all the Panther Lake merriment --who instigated the High Four Smith Family Hand Signal in honor of Al. Yes, I did NOT know how to tell you all apart until the New York Cousins Tour, but once I did get to know you and your wonderful senses of humor, I proposed the High Four for the group picture. I thought your enthusiastic response was more a result of the beer than my wit, but the High Four lives on -- and I get to be with almost all of you again to stir up more mischief in less than a month!

  6. Super packing suggestions, Don....I would just add that your muscles will appreciate it if you can use a small suitcase since we will be dragging it on and off the bus and up and down stairs continually! To condense things, I lay jeans with waist band inside and legs out in spiral fashion first, then roll shirts setting them inside with pjs etc. then fold legs over one by one making it like a package. That way you can try to fold legs back out and retrieve the shirts w/o taking everything back out.....at least that is the plan!
